It was dark out, the moon shining bright in the sky, and there were people chasing me. They didn't seem like people though. They seemed like animals, like animals with white blonde fur and red eyes. They were fast and their mouths were curved up in snarls and growls. I was running faster than I ever thought possible, but they soon caught up with me. When I heard their voices, I was too scared to even whimper.
"I'm sorry, Ashlyn. You're just so... tempting," the smaller of the two said through a very deeply ferocious voice. It was twisted and warped by an animal-like snarl that it sounded like a tiger that learned English, but was still heavily accented by its own language.
The larger of the two stood in front of me. Though he was strangely familiar, he was just as terrifying. I didn't recognize him.
His voice was, too, twisted and warped with the animal language. "I won't let you do this to her," he stated.
The smaller one gave a bark-like laugh that bounced off the trees surrounding us. "And you're going to stop me?" he asked sarcastically.
I finally realized that the one in front of me was protecting me. He snarled—a ferocious, feral sound, similar to a lion, only not quite as wild. "Yes, I am, you bastard. You pretend to love her. You pretend to care for her. You pretend to give a shit about her. You don't really care. You'd rather every single item on this planet—living or dead—to drop dead and disappear like they'd never existed. Well, I'm not pretending, and I'm defending my only reason to live."
I matched the body to the one person it could've been—Hawk. The one he was protecting me from was the one person I would never have believed it was: Evan. Evan was trying to get me for something, and apparently Hawk thought he was faking and was trying to protect me.
But something inside me was telling me to go to Evan. It was tied with the feeling that I should just stay where I was. Despite the feeling that I should stay where I was, I staggered a step forward towards the Evan-monster.
He noticed it and his bright red eyes burned into mine. "Come to me," he said. My legs were threatening to lock and run back to Hawk, my heart screaming in protest, clearly telling me to go back to Hawk; everything was telling me "Go back to Hawk! Go back to Hawk! Now, you idiot!" But, like the idiot I truly was, I ignored them and took Evan's outstretched hand.
The second we touched, I gasped in pain. His nails were claws, and they were digging themselves into me, breaking skin, making blood flow up easily through the gashes. I went limp and gasped more as the pain in my hand increased. I felt my hand being released and my upper arms being grasped. Again, his claws pierced my skin and made it easy for blood to run down my arms. I cradled my injured hand to my chest and bit my lips to try and ignore the pain. I felt the hands at my arms release slightly, and then being pulled upward. I felt lips grazing my neck, and then a slight pinch.
I felt no pain then. I felt sleepy and dreamy. My mind was clouded. My arms and legs felt like they were a million pounds. My head felt like a feather. Suddenly, the pain burst through the clouds of my mind and I screamed in agony. Then the nightmare went dark.
